I didn't hate Obama like many non-Democrats do, but him winning it was pretty ridiculous.  He basically got it for being elected, as he hadn't really had much time between being elected and winning the award to do anything of note.

Al Gore winning it in 2007 based on climate change advocacy was a similarly odd and very political choice.

I think the Abraham Accords could've been worthy of the prize, but seems like the time for that has past. I don't think he's been in office long enough this time around to win 2025. Obama won in 2009 and it was a joke. Why would Trump want the same thing? IF the peace between Gaza and Israel holds, then certainly should be considered for 2026. That's a big IF though, there's a lot way to go there.

Whether or not someone thinks Obama deserved his Nobel, Donald Trump should never get one, and it’s not about politics, it’s about principle. The Peace Prize isn’t supposed to be a PR trophy for photo ops or “brand diplomacy.” It’s meant to honor genuine, sustained work toward peace, human rights, and international cooperation. 

Trump’s record is the opposite of that. He withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal (which increased global tension), greenlit the Yemen arms trade, tried to pressure Ukraine for political gain, and normalized personal diplomacy with dictators while undermining long-term alliances. Even the Abraham Accords, while positive, didn’t end any active wars, they were mostly about formalizing relationships that were already quietly in place.

Beyond foreign policy, his constant rhetoric of division,calling opponents enemies, undermining institutions, and fueling domestic polarization, stands completely against the spirit of what the Nobel Peace Prize represents. You can’t promote peace abroad when you stoke chaos at home.
And also the way he has been roaming around saying this and also his constant need to remind people he deserves noble prize makes it almost seems like he is begging for it. If your goal to make peace around the world is to get noble prize then sorry that's not a good leader's sign. People can downvote me or bash me (if you reasonable debate points I am open to it which is rare in  both left and right wing leaning subreddit!!)
In short: whatever one’s opinion of Obama or the Nobel committee, giving the Peace Prize to Trump would make it a punchline, not an honor.
